FC Utrecht 4 - 0 Celtic

Celtic were dumped out of Europe via a 4 - 0 loss away to FC Utrecht in the second leg of this Europa League qualifying round. Utrecht started brightly and Zaluska was forced to make a good stop from a free kick after approximately 10 minutes. Utrecht took the lead after 12 minutes from the penalty spot despite Zaluska getting a hand to it. It was 2 - 0 after 20 minutes when Utrecht again scored from the penalty spot. This was harsh as replays showed that Zaluska had won the ball before making contact with the Utrecht player. Celtic were not playing well and their first attempt was a shot by Fortune which sailed over the bar after approximately 30 minutes. Utrecht hit the bar just before half time as Cha was caught ball watching.

Utrecht started the second half well and it was 3 - 0 after 47 minutes after poor defending by Celtic. Celtic pushed to grab an away goal but were creating no chances and Utrecht made it 4 - 0 after 63 minutes beating Zaluska with a long range shot. Zaluska made a fine save to keep the score down and Fortune had a weak shot on goal from 6 yards out. Utrecht began to sit back and Celtic eventually made a few half chances but they were unable to score.

This was a very poor display by Celtic and something which is becoming more and more common. The players looked like they didn't know what to do.
