St. Mirren 0 - 2 Celtic

Forrest
                         Brown

Celtic continued their recent winning run with a hard fought 2 - 0 away win over St. Mirren. St. Mirren almost took the lead after approximately 10 minutes but somehow Forster managed to fall on the ball after it seemed to have gone through his legs. Celtic's first opportunity came when Samaras flicked a long ball on to Hooper who hit a wonderful strike form 30 yards but the St. Mirren goal keeper made a great save. St. Mirren were the better team and Forster was called upon to make another save. At the other end, Forrest had a cross which hit the top of the bar.

In the second half St. Mirren again started well. They penned Celtic back in their own half and forced 2 good saves from Forster. However, Celtic took the lead after 71 minutes when Forrest drilled the ball in to the bottom corner from the edge of the box following a neat lay off from Brown. It was 2- 0 after 88 minutes when Brown curled the ball home with his left foot from the edge of the box. In injury time Rogne had a goal disallowed for off-side. He clearly wasn't but a Celtic player was.

This was a good result but a poor performance. Credit has to be given to St. Mirren who were probably the better team. I wish the governing bodies would decide on what the off-side rule actually is as it isn't applied consistently.
